21st May

The widely acclaimed and simply superb Hokie Joint make their Club debut, playing tracks from their brilliant debut CD, 'The Way It Goes …….. Sometimes', definitely a gig not to miss.

28th May

Another gig not to be missed sees the return of the fabulous Cadillac Kings together with a very special guest, Kurt Crandall, a harmonica whizz who hails from Richmond, Virginia who is undertaking a brief UK tour with the CKs. This is just one of four UK dates Kurt is playing so do not miss!! I still have wonderful memories of my final gig at the Club in June 2008 when the CK's were the icing on what was a magnificent cake for me.

June 2009

Halfway through the Club's 10th Anniversary year and another very strong month. Paul is having to rebook the headliners for 4th June as the excellent Martin Harley Band have had to cancel as Martin has been offered an extended engagement supporting James Morrison on tour. We will bring you details of who will be playing on the 4th June very soon.

On the 11th, the superb Groove Doctors visit the Club with the ever popular Danny Bryant's RedEye Band on the 18th with Roy Mette in support and the sophisticated and polished Elevators on the 25th. Not only a strong month but also a month of great variety.

DAVE KELLY – 22nd MAY (support: Keith Christmas) TICKETS £10.

After The Stumble we’ve got, for your enjoyment, yet another British blues legend.  Dave took to the stage professionally in the mid-‘60s, firstly with his late sister, Jo-Ann and then with a variety of bands (Tramp; The John Dummer Band) as well as following a career as a solo performer.  An interesting side note here is that in the mid-‘70s The John Dummer Band morphed into doo-wop revival band ‘Darts’ who, in the 20 month period November 1977 to July 1979 notched 6 top ten hits.  Had Dave stayed with the band around that time he may well have been coming to the Club singing ‘Boy From New York City’ with Rita Ray and Den Hegarty rather than ‘It Hurts Me Too’!  Since 1979, Dave Kelly's guitar and vocals have formed the backbone of The Blues Band's distinctive sound. Performing his only scheduled solo gig anywhere this year at Keighley Blues Club, Dave is generally acknowledged as the best blues slide guitarist the UK has produced as well as being an excellent blues vocalist. His experience in this field of music has won him acclaim from some of the greats, many of whom he has played and recorded with. If there is such a thing as a British 'blues pedigree', then Dave Kelly's sets the standard.

Supporting Dave we have the enigmatic Keith Christmas (left). His career has followed a fascinating path – playing acoustic guitar on David Bowie’s album ‘Space Oddity; appearing at the first Glastonbury Festival; being voted one of the 6 top international artists by Sounds magazine in 1972 and being so well respected by his fellow musicians that he has been able to call on the likes of Keith Tippett, Rod Argent, Greg Lake and Cat Stevens to contribute to his albums.  In short, Keith is a fabulous guitarist and one of the most respected performers in the music business anywhere in the world. Check him out at www.kcblues.co.uk. ALL THIS FOR A TENNER.  HOW DO WE DO IT? BEATS ME!

ERROL LINTON’S BLUES VIBE – 12th JUNE (support: Chris Dunn).  TICKETS £7

GIG SPONSORED BY

'You haven’t lived till you’ve heard the dub version of Howlin’ Wolf’….MOJO MAGAZINE .

Accompanied by Jean-Pierre Lampe (double bass), Adam Blake (guitar) and Sam Kelly (drums), his blues is raw and bloody, an urban sound with rural roots.

His latest album, ‘Roots Stew’ shows Linton’s song writing developing alongside the band’s organic blues-reggae groove. The album has quickly picked up some glowing reviews, and is currently being showcased wherever the band plays.

Moving effortlessly from Chicago Shuffle to Kingston Skank without missing a beat, they have gained an unrivalled live reputation.  Errol's first album ‘Vibing It’ had airplay and a session for BBC Radio 2 Paul Jones Blues Show, airplay from Bob Harris, Johnny Walker, Andy Kershaw and Charlie Gillett.

He is established as a firm fixture on the UK and European Blues Festival and Club Circuit. In the words of the late John Walters "Errol is as good a Harmonica player as anyone can reasonably hope to become, he is the real Deal". Errol and his band are exceptional performers – we have been very lucky to get them, only being able to afford to do so thanks to the generous support from Keybury.  Their fusions of blues with flamboyant Jamaican rhythms make for a unique musical experience.  Check his video at www.myspace.com/keighleybluesclub and here more sounds at www.myspace.com/errollinton where you will find a fantastic ‘live’ version of ‘Break ‘Em Down’ amongst other tracks.
