2004
A new feature of Rocking the Blues
at Tring this year was the Guitar, Record and CD Fair which took place in the
Court Theatre on Sunday. The highlights were Geoff Whitehorn showing his
versatility demonstrating Marshall amps, Lee Hodgson from the Guitar Institute
not only holding a blues guitar clinic from the stage but also acoustic guitar
clinics in a separate area, plus Gary Fletcher of the Blues Band playing an
acoustic lunchtime gig. Gary included several numbers from his new cd, ‘The
Gary Fletcher Official Bootleg Album’, and some Blues Band favourites he
penned, including ‘Green Stuff’ and ‘Steppin’ Out On Main’ and was
well received by the large crowd.
At the end of the day, founder of
Marshall Amplification, Jim
Marshall, said, as he drew the raffle, “This is one of the nicest events
I’ve ever been to and I’ll ensure Marshall exhibit every year, at least as
long as I live!” The main raffle prize was won by a local Tring lady and she
gave the Hofner HAS05 acoustic guitar, worth £136.00, to her
12 year old son who had just started guitar lessons. Other prizes included two
Marshall practice amps, signed cd and posters from the Blues Band and Gary
Fletcher.

So roll on next year, can
‘Rocking the Blues at Tring’ get even better? A hard task, we will just have
to wait and see.
